IA-AWWA 2023 Spring Short Course

Water Treatment Distribution Maintenance  Math

March 1-2, 2023 ● Ankeny, IA

Spring Short Course

Join us March 1-2 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny for two days of operator-focused continuing education and networking with the opportunity to earn up to 1.0 CEU approved for IDNR Water Treatment, Distribution, and Wastewater Treatment certifications (see approval details below).

For truly customized learning, a combination of General, Water Treatment, Distribution, and Maintenance sessions will be offered alongside a Math for Operators workshop.

Each day's registration includes a light continental breakfast as well as lunch.

Math for Operators Workshop

The Spring 2023 Short Course features a special workshop, Making Math Work For You Rather Than Letting Math Make You Work. Do you have trouble getting equations to work for you? Ben Moehlmann and Steve Moehlmann, coaches from www.MMES.help, will show you how to use math pies and to bake your own math pies from equations. Math pies are powerful tools for manipulating equations without traditional algebra. These pies allow anyone to do algebra the same way a master mathematician does. This session will dive into three topics:

  • Many Equations Equal One Math Pie
  • Rules for Using Math Pies
  • Baking Your Own Math Pies

IDNR Operator CEUs Available

Each day of the Short Course offers 0.5 CEU. With complete two-day attendance, you will earn 10 Contact Hours/1.0 CEU approved for IDNR operator certification. Depending on which tracks you choose to participate in, your credits may be applied to Water Treatment, Distribution, or Wastewater certification.

The following tables detail IDNR's approvals and the CEUs available to you for each IDNR certification type.
