This position is responsible from the day-to-day operations associated with the water treatment and wastewater facilities, including pumping stations and water source entry points.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluates plant operating conditions by reviewing and visually observing laboratory and plant operation data
- Assists in planning for the entire treatment facility by reviewing documents and other pertinent information, providing assessment of future needs and making recommendations as to improvements and modifications
- Gathers and maintains records of work unit data; prepares data to complete monthly operational reports and submit to DNR; maintains compliance with state and/or federal rules and regulations
- Examines problems in process control, determines if problem is equivalent of necessary changes
- Responsible for completing preventative maintenance to all equipment in the treatment facilities and source water pumping stations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the Federal Clean Water Act guidelines and other Federal, State and local regulations that affect plant operations
- Thorough knowledge of principles of water and wastewater treatment processes and process control
- Knowledge of automated process control systems and related software Knowledge of the proper operation and maintenance of equipment used in the treatment process
- Skills in organization and leadership
REQUIRED SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Possession of valid State of Iowa Grade I in water treatment plant operator’s certification, with the ability to obtain Grade II license within 2 years.
- Water Distribution Grade I with ability to obtain Grade II.
- Ability to obtain a Waste Water 1 Lagoon certification
- Maintain necessary CEU’s directly related to certification and job duties
- Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain insurability
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- To perform the essential functions of the job, incumbents must be able to perform the following: climbing, balancing, standing, walking, hearing/listening and seeing/observing. Sedentary work: exerts up to 70lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Benefits/Salary:
Salary Range - $51,800 to $64,800100% paid insurance for employee, 80% paid for family. Dental insurance paid 80% by employer. IPERS retirement plan with an up to $1,950 matching 457 retirement plan. Company-paid disability insurance.
Monday thru Friday – 8 am to 4:30 pm work schedule. Position is also on an On-call rotation.
Company commuter truck provided once on call rotation begins. Vehicle provided for work use.
