Join us November 3-4 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny for two days of operator-focused continuing education and networking with the opportunity to earn up to 1.0 CEU approved for IDNR Water Treatment and Distribution certifications.

For truly customized learning, registrants may choose from:

• An optional three-hour Hydrant & Valve Workshop offered each day of the Short Course

• A focused two-day Membrane Workshop with Plant Tours

Each day's registration includes a light continental breakfast as well as lunch.

Hydrant & Valve Workshop

This three-hour workshop will be repeated each morning of the Fall Short Course held November 3 and 4 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny. Waterloo Water Works staff will lead sessions on valve maintenance, hydrant maintenance and repairs, and valve operating nut repair with hands-on demonstrations utilizing a gate valve maintenance truck and an on-site hydrant.

To participate in the Hydrant & Valve Workshop, you must register for a one- or two-day Short Course registration offering 0.5 or 1.0 CEU of operator-focused continuing education and networking. Alongside the three-hour workshop, General Sessions will round out the participant's 0.5 or 1.0 CEU agenda.

A portion of this workshop will be held outdoors and may require periods of standing. Participants should dress accordingly.

Membrane Workshop & Plant Tours

This two-day, 1.0 CEU workshop co-hosted with the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) will explore micro-and ultrafiltration, RO & nanofiltration, membrane bioreactors and reuse, membrane chemistry, and ceramic membranes. 

Approximately 50% of the workshop will be spent touring the Saylorville Water Treatment Plant and Grimes RO Water Treatment Plant. Participants will meet at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny and are responsible for their own transportation between the FFA Enrichment Center and each tour location.
